About the Conference

From March 16 - 18, 2021 Track Two, in collaboration with the Esalen Institute, hosted a three day virtual conference on the global nuclear arms threat.

The urgency of nuclear threats are palpable and perhaps more urgent than in the past. These threats have been overshadowed by the pandemic and by the critical threat posed by Climate Change. And yet vulnerabilities of cyber systems, erratic leaders and growing investment in the business of nuclear arms offer new dimension to the threats. Can nongovernmental and citizen diplomacy be deployed to help advance threat reduction and how might we support the best and/or new approaches in 2021?

Track Two and the COVID-19 Pandemic

When COVID-19 illustrated the vulnerability of the shared human experience and raised public consciousness around the need for cooperation and collaboration for the survival of our species and planet, it shifted the way that organizations operated the world over. During this time, Track Two drew from its experience fostering networks across borders to facilitate a series of webinars and virtual conferences to ensure that this important work moved forward.
